Installation of Nets
StealthNet is attached to a 2mm perimeter cable which is supported by a wide variety of intermediate and corner attachments designed for masonry, wood or steel. The cable is tensioned using turnbuckles and StealthNet is attached to the cable at each mesh opening using net rings.

Technical Specifications:
- The twine is knitted into sheets on a net-making machine. A pressure of 5 tons is then applied to the net to stretch it into squares and tighten the knots. The net is then heat set in an enclosed system at a temperature of 200º F for 3 minutes.
- Standard mesh sizes are 3/4", 1-1/8", 2" and 4", but other mesh sizes can be manufactured. Nets can be custom made in any length or width. For ease of installation, corners and long sides are marked. StealthNet is available in stock colors of Black, Stone (beige) and White.
- Thermal Properties - Softening point in the region of 250º F.
- Effect of High Temperature - Melting point in excess of 270º F. Burns with difficulty. May be heated for short periods up to 600º F.
- Flammability - Burns slowly in air (ASTM Test 1.0î/min); fine filaments tend to melt and drop away before propagating a flame. When exposed to open flame the netting literally disappears. Flame-proof StealthNet is now available and conforms to NFPA 701.
- Effect of Low Temperatures - Polyethylene retains its flexibility at very low temperatures and does not become rigid under freezing conditions.
- Chemical Properties - Polyethylene, a paraffin hydrocarbon, is chemically inert and is highly resistant to a wide range of chemicals at ordinary temperatures. It does not rot or absorb water. Polyethylene fibers have a high resistance to acids and alkalies at all concentrations, but are attacked by nitric acid. Insoluble in most common organic solvents at room temperature.
- Electrical Properties - Polyethylene is an outstanding electrical insulator, especially to high frequency currents.
- Insects and Micro-organisms - The fibers are not ingested by insects and are completely resistant to bacteria, mildew and other micro-organisms, making them virtually rot proof.
- Effects of Wind - Large sheets of StealthNet can be impacted by wind; the smaller mesh sizes are more impacted. Generally speaking, wind passes through netting.
HVAC Netting System
The Stand-Off brackets are mounted on the corners of the unit and support a perimeter cable approximately 2 feet above and 2 feet out from the outside edge of the unit. Two additional cables are installed diagonally from the end of each standoff support arm (corner to corner) to support the standoff arms and to provide support to the net in the middle of the unit, this insures that the net will not sag down onto the equipment.
On smaller units a cable tension system holds the standoff brackets securely in place allowing installation without penetration of the HVAC unit with screws. Adding two sheet metal screws per corner adds strength. Larger units with spans greater than 10 feet should have sheetmetal screws used to fasten the standoff to the unit.
The protective net is net ringed to the supporting perimeter cable and down the corner seams. The weighted line is also net ringed securely to the bottom of the net to insure a clean and tight installation.
A zipper can be installed in the net to allow access to the interior of the protection system. In the second example described here a 6' zipper is installed that allows easy access for maintenance.
Where there is a through-the-net-penetration required; cut an access hole in the net and then cut the installation and relief access straight down to the weighted line. Install the appropriate length zipper to close the installation cut. Add that zipper in the options section of the materials calculator.

Installation Time
The smaller unit (top picture: 7' wide x 7' long x 5' high) took 2 installers 3 hours to complete. The larger unit (bottom picture: 8' wide x 25' long x 8' high ) took 2 installers 4 hours to complete.
